Through the Bars
BY: Fritz Beer (Copyright 2001)

Back to the list of releases.

WRITER'S COMMENTS: This song is about becoming famous, which I know nothing about, but which I imagine is like being in a really plush cage where all your old friends, especially the girlfriends you've shit on, can come and poke you through the bars with the bars with long sticks and throw peanuts at you.
.

We’ve been welding up our cages for a long time

Working hard like good sons making honest bucks
Now you don’t owe me a favor I’m the wrong guy
Killing you is killing me mean it honestly

It’s just another cage with golden bars
And if we ever get that far
Would you still come round and tease me through the bars
tease me through the bars

You can lunch down on my bones drinking red wine
Scraping my cup across the bars how did we cross wire
And it’s time to pay the check off on the checkered past I’ve left off
Oil smooth and a built to last did you have to laugh
