Graces
BY: Fritz Beer (Copyright 2001)

Back to the list of releases.

WRITER'S COMMENTS: This is a love song of the apology (#3) variety. As you know there are 4 types of love songs:
1. The "I GOT TO GOT TO HAVE YOU" love song.
2. The "I GOT YOU AND YOUR THE BEST THING THAT EVERY HAPPENED TO ME" love song.
3. The "I BLEW IT, CAN I COME CRAWLING BACK, I'M SORRY" love song. and
4. The "AFTER ALL THE LOVE I GAVE YOU I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU KICKED ME IN THE NUTS LIKE THAT YOU DIRTY BITCH. YOU BROKE THE HEART OF THIS ROCK-N-ROLL CLOWN" love song..

You wouldn't even know me, I would bet
If I didn't taste like a beer and a cigarette

I couldn't see the writing, I couldn't find the wall
I didn't have the strength or the guts or the nerve, and that's not all
You wouldn't even love me, and I know why
'Cause I wouldn't say you and me till we die

All of the women and all of the children
Beat me in stride to the life boats outside
All that I did for them amounts to nothing
'Cause presents and words can't make up for lost time

But if I should ever fall into your graces again
I'd spend my time trying to get near you, instead of trying to get away
If I should ever fall into your graces
If I should ever fall into your graces again

You wouldn't even like, me if you made sense
If I paid rent, paid dues just a little bit

You wouldn't even kow me, and I could cry
But don't you know big boys like me we don't cry

Just 'cause my new friends are all republicans
what about you, you need your money too
All that I did for them amounts to nothing
'Cause presents and words can't make up for lost time
