It sounds as if Tom Petty had gone to a gym and had, together with Wilco and the Replacements, built up some muscle: Punchy, an Austin based quartet, plays full-bodied roots-rock with some catchy chorus lines, deep-throated Byrds-guitars and a lot of oomph behind it. But if you're looking for ballads on this album, you won't find them - all eleven songs favor the forward gears.
