2002-08-06 Creamy Goodness

"Just My Type" from the latest PUNCHY CD of the same name has been added into rotation on KRMY, a groovy web-radio station that features an eclectic mix that they call "from the mainstream to the local scene." This week PUNCHY is the "Featured Artist," so go to the site, tune in, and while you're there spend some time surfing around their site and learn all about creamy goodness, wankers, and more.

2002-06-06 PUNCHY IN ROTATION: Punchy's song "Just My Type" from the album of the same name was added into rotation this week on Texas Internet Radio. This rockin' new station plays only the best in Texas music, 24 hours a day. Go check 'em out...

2002-05-08 PUNCHY ON THE BIG SCREEN: Keep an eye out for PUNCHY on film again this fall/winter. Birdnose Productions has licensed songs from PUNCHY's self-titled 1999 debut cd as well as the 2001 release "Just My Type" for use in an independent feature film titled "Graduation Day" that will be shot this summer.

2002-03-27 PUNCHY AT NEMO: If you haven't heard of it before, NEMO is kind of like SXSW, except it's in Boston. Out of well over 2000 entries they only choose 200 bands from around the country to showcase at this event and we're really excited that PUNCHY will be one of the only Texas bands selected this year. The showcase will be at Copperfield's on Sat. 4/13 and will also feature The Pincushions, Nemochrome, Aloha Steam Train, and Chris Emerson.

2002-03-10 PUNCHY AT SXSW: It's that time of year again and we'll be keeping busy as usual. Set your alarm Thursday morning and catch Punchy on the KLBJ morning show. We'll be on the air bright and early (8:20am) playing some tunes (acoustic-style).

Later that day we'll be performing at the Exit Productions showcase at Wooldridge Park. Punchy goes on at 6:50pm sharp. This show is also sponsored in part by the Real Ale Brewing Company so come by for some great bands and all the free beer you can drink.

Finally, don't miss Punchy's official SXSW showcase at Melagio on Saturday night at 1am.

See the Tour section for more details on all these events.

2002-02-27 PUNCHY, JIM BEAM, AND ROLLING STONE: Punchy has been selected to participate in an on-line band search sponsored by Jim Beam Music and Rolling Stone. Please show your support by going to the Jim Beam Music site and voting for Punchy! Voting begins at 6pm on Wed. 2/27 and ends at 6pm on Wed. 3/6.

2002-02-12 PUNCHY ON LOCAL LICKS LIVE: PUNCHY will be featured live on KLBJ on Tue. 2/26 at 10pm as part of this year's Local Licks Live series. The band will play a full electric 50-minute set at the Austin School of Music before a small in-studio audience. The show is broadcast live on KLBJ (93.7FM in Austin) and can also be heard over the KLBJ web-cast. One of the songs recorded that night will be released on this year's Local Licks Live charity CD which is sold all over Austin. Call KLBJ now at 512-390-KLBJ for your chance to be part of the studio audience!

2002-01-25 SWAMP TOUR 2002: It's time again for our annual romp through the bayou - this time with our good friends The Saloonatics from Waco, TX. Is it mere coincidence that we'll be in The Big Easy on Super Bowl Sunday? Well, actually: yes. But still, it's pretty cool, no? Be sure to check the Tour section to find out where we'll be. Come to a show and pick up a limited-edition commemorative 'Swamp Tour' t-shirt. They'll also be available for ordering on-line shortly.

2002-01-11 YEAR-END LISTS PART II: We just received word that our second cd 'Just My Type' (our first for {Pinch Hit Records}) was named one of the Top 10 Indie CD's of 2001 by NYRock.com. Read more about it here.

Proceeds will benefit the Karen Prince Fund, a non-profit in association with St. Davids, with the goal of raising money to assist organizations to provide early-detection education, mammography and treatment for low income and indigent women in the Austin area.

Schedules permitting, BreastFest 2001 has commitments of appearances from actors Eamonn Walker (HBO's OZ), Lee Tergesen (OZ, Law & Order-SVU), Jason Priestly (90120), and Brian Vander Ark ({The Verve Pipe}). This event is sponsored by {KLBJ}.

The show will be held at Antone's on Sunday, 10/28 and will start at 5pm. PUNCHY goes on at 9pm. PUNCHY will be making a few local media appearances to help promote the event. Watch the {Fox 7} Morning Show on Mon. 10/22 at 7am and listen to the {KLBJ} Morning Show on Fri. 10/26 at 8am to see/hear PUNCHY play live in the studio(s).

2001-10-11 BIG IN GERMANY?: Following the release of 'Just My Type' in July there has been a slow but steady buzz building. Favorable press and radio play have started to translate into cd sales and you know what that means: tour! Plans for a European tour are under way, although nothing is confirmed at this point.

2001-10-01 W.A.R. BENEFIT RESULTS: The benefit for 'The September 11th Fund' was a success - over $1100 was raised. We really appreciate everybody coming out to help us support this worthy cause.

2001-09-21 W.A.R. BENEFIT: PUNCHY will be participating in the first of a series of benefits to help raise money to aid in the disaster recovery efforts. This event (which will also feature {Sara Hickman}, {Mike Rosenthal}, {Penny Jo Pullus}, {Dreamtrybe}, and {Daniel Link}) will be held at The Drink on Tuesday, 9/25 starting at 7pm. They are asking for a $10 minimum donation at the door, so please do what you can to help support this worthwhile cause. Set times are posted on our {Tour} page.

2001-09-11 RED CROSS NEEDS YOUR $$$ AND YOUR BLOOD: In the face of recent events, we decided that we should try to do something to help. At each of our shows this week we will be selling our new CD "Just My Type" and donating all the money we receive to the American Red Cross. If you are unable to make it out to a gig this week, you can still help. Our good friends at {Pinch Hit Records} have generously agreed to donate all proceeds from sales of "Just My Type" through their web site over the next five days to the Red Cross as well. If you already own the cd, go ahead and get another. You can give it to a friend and feel good about helping us to help others who need it now. While you're at it, now would be a good time to donate blood. Call 1-800-448-3543 for details or visit their web site.

2001-08-17 LAST MINUTE ADDITION: Come see the all-star line-up at Antone's (Austin, TX) on Saturday, August 18th with {Poundhound} (featuring Doug Pinnick from King's X), {Gahdzilla Motor Company}, Punchy, {Bag}, and {Pavlov's Dogs}. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm, and Punchy goes on at 10pm. Get there early and you could win a shiny new bass guitar autographed by Doug Pinnick!

If you live out of range, you can listen in on the {KLBJ web-cast}.

2001-06-28 GOOD, BAD, & UGLY: While we've been out on the road, our good friends at {Pinch Hit Records} (with added help from {Bitter Kitten Music}) have been toiling 'round the clock to spread the word about the new cd, 'Just My Type.' The result: Lots of ink in national, regional, and local publications. See the fruits of their labors in the {Press} section of the site. WARNING: PUNCHY endorses a warts 'n' all approach. We show you the good, the bad, and the indifferent. Hey, they're only words. They can't hurt you...
